Unemployment in Canada fell to 5.5% in September – Forex
According to the Ministry of Labor of Canada, the number of jobs in the Canadian economy increased in September this year by 53.7 thousand. According to economists, a less significant growth was expected – by 7.5 thousand. Growth was noted in the full-time segment. At the same time, paid employment decreased by 21,000 compared to August, and in annual terms the figure increased by 2.3%. Most of the jobs were created in the public sector, especially in the health sector. The self-employment segment also recorded a significant increase in the indicator. At the same time, employment has declined in the socio-cultural sphere and in the natural resource segment. The ratio of the number of employed people to the total working population of the country was 65.7%, which is lower than its August value of 65.8%. The salaries of permanent workers increased by an average of 4.3% year-on-year. The unemployment rate fell to 5.5% from 5.7% in the previous month.
